Courses
The Soul's Story
The Soul's Story In Sufism the story is used as a spiritual practice and tool for awakening the spirit from it's long sleep in the human psyche. Shahabuddin will share his wealth of traditional stories as well as the art of creating a teaching story out of one's own heart and soul. The stories are inner experiences that emerge as meditations rather then written representations. There are practices that we can do to awaken a spiritual viewpoint of life instead of a primarily egocentric point of view. This shift of consciousness opens us to more subtle planes of awareness which enable the cosmic and eternal stories of the universe to come through the filters of our own individual personality. Creating stories and myths and seeing the symbols in life is a talent that all human being possess and very few use. Shahabuddin Less
Yoga as Spiritual Practice
We will explore hatha yoga using our physical body as a means to draw our senses
inward and to slow and quiet the rhythm of the mind. Learning classical yoga asanas
(postures), we will work on balancing body, mind and spirit to bring about a state of
harmony. To quote yoga master BKS Iyengar "Above all, yoga gives hope."
Yves Oberlin
Hope and Harmony in Writing
“Write a little every day, without hope and without despair”-Issak Deninson - We will do writing “practice” together, simply engaging in the process without concern for the product. Timed writing from given prompts will be used after sampling various poem and prose models, attempting to contact our deep selves where harmony may be lurking amidst conflict and obstacles. Vajra Barbara Schmitz
Ten Degrees of Separation: The Soul's Human Journey
When the soul incarnates as a human being it passes through ten stages of transformation in the journey from mitosis to death. As one navigates through these ten stages they become confused and misinterpret the lessons that must be internalized to fully journey to following stage. In this course we will learn about these ten stages and the spiritual initiations that accompany each stage. Participants will use interactive methods to learn where they are in this journey and also learn healing practices to help free their inner being for transformation and awakening. Anna Less
Sacred Sound
Mukesh has the ability to communicate the essence of music directly to the hearts of his listeners. Through a combination of exercises, scales, chants, kirtans and warm-hearted stories, he shares his love of sound and gently pulls us into the ocean where sound dissolves into silence. No prior musical experience is necessary.

Sekala/Niskala - Exploring Hope and Harmony through Balinese Mysticism
The ideal of the Balinese Hindu religion is to strike a balance between Sekala and Niskala – the worldly forces and the spiritual forces. Through offerings, sacred dance, prayer, and rituals, this mystic culture is on a perennial quest to seek harmony between these two forces. It is from this harmony that the Balinese make an accommodation for hope to engage the extremes of modernism, decease, and all the other confrontive forces of the netherworld. In this class, the participants will explore the Balinese philosophy of Sekala/Niskala with movement, prayer, mudras, asanas, ancient rituals, and discussion. This is an unique opportunity to examine and participate in the mystical practices of the culture, known as “the People of the Religion of Water”.

Tibetan Mandala Painting
We are going to create the Buddhist symbol of the Kalachakra Mantra. The beautiful multicolored symbol of this Mantra is formed from ten Sanskrit letters which are carefully interwoven and interconnected. The Kalachakra Mantra itself occupies the central position in the complex pattern that results.
The Kalachakra system we will explore reveals the intimate connection between Man and the Universe; between the microcosm and the macrocosm.
In the past thirty years, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama has bestowed the Kalachakra initiation many times worldwide, and recently at the site of the Stupa in present day Andhra Pradesh, India.
You will learn to recite the Kalachakra Mantra during the class. The Kalachakra Mantra brings peace and harmony, purifying and balancing the environment in all directions--turning negative energy into positive energy, both within and without.
Each person will use colorful soft clay to make the Tibetan Buddhist symbol of the Kalachakra Mantra according to the traditional way Tibetan lamas make Torma offerings out of butter. This hands-on work is appropriate for both adults and children. Everyone is welcome, and after the class you will have your work to take home with you. Jamyong Singye
